Standing Toe Touches | McKenzie Standing Flexion for Low Back Mobility

McKenzie standing toe touches are a gentle standing flexion exercise used to reduce low back stiffness and improve forward bending. This drill helps relax tight spinal muscles and restore more comfortable movement after sitting, lifting, or general daily strain.

How to Perform It:

  • Stand tall with your feet together

  • Slowly bend forward, letting your spine gently flex

  • Allow your arms and head to relax as you fold

  • Pause at a comfortable depth

  • Return to standing with slow, controlled motion

Common Mistakes to Avoid:

  • Rushing the movement

  • Forcing into pain

  • Locking the knees excessively

  • Holding your breath

Recommended Dosage:

  • 10–15 slow repetitions

  • 1–2 sets as needed

This exercise is part of the movement-based approach we take at Mountain Movement Chiropractic in Spearfish, SD. If you’re a patient of Dr. Zach Hansen, use this as directed in your care plan to support healthier flexion tolerance and long-term low back mobility.
